A Canadian digital marketing agency
for businesses coast to coast.
Velle Digital is a BC-based marketing agency working with businesses across Canada, coast to coast. We build websites, run search and social campaigns and set up follow-up systems that respect Canadian rules, Canadian customers and Canadian dollars.
Why work with a marketing agency in Canada
Plenty of agencies will run your ads from anywhere in the world. The question is whether they understand the market you are selling into. Canadian customers spell differently, pay sales taxes that change at provincial borders, live across a country that spans time zones from Newfoundland to the Pacific, and in many cases expect to be served in French. Canadian law also sets its own rules for email, text messages, personal information and advertising claims, and those rules apply to you no matter where your agency sits.
An agency that works in this market every day builds those details in from the start instead of discovering them after a complaint. That is the case for hiring a marketing agency in Canada, and it is the case we make for ourselves.
We are based in Delta, BC, in Metro Vancouver, and work with businesses from coast to coast. Clients outside the Lower Mainland work with us through video calls, a shared project board, live reporting dashboards and written weekly updates. You get one accountable team handling your website, search, paid ads, automation and content, so nothing falls between vendors and there is one place to ask what is working.
Canadian rules that shape your marketing
None of this is legal advice, and for anything high stakes you should talk to a lawyer. But every Canadian business that markets online runs into the same handful of laws, and a competent agency should already be working inside them.
- Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Commercial email and text messages need consent. Express consent lasts until someone withdraws it, while implied consent from an existing business relationship is time-limited: the government's CASL guidance says it may be valid for up to two years, or just six months for inquiries. Each message must identify the sender, include working contact details and offer an unsubscribe option that is honored within 10 business days. We build those requirements into every list, form and automation we set up, and keep records of how consent was collected.
- Privacy law. The federal private sector privacy law, PIPEDA, is built on ten fair information principles, including identifying purposes, consent, limiting collection and safeguards. Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have their own private sector laws that are deemed substantially similar, and PIPEDA still applies when information crosses provincial or national borders. In practice that shapes your forms, tracking pixels, cookie notices, CRM access and how long you keep lead data.
- The Competition Act. Advertising cannot be false or misleading, and the Competition Bureau judges claims by the general impression they create, not only their literal wording. The Act treats drip pricing, advertising a price that cannot be paid because of fixed mandatory fees, as misleading, and the Bureau has warned against false scarcity claims such as fake low-stock or countdown messages. We write ads and landing pages with real prices, real deadlines and claims you can back up.
Selling in Quebec: French is not optional
Quebec has its own language law, the Charter of the French Language, and Bill 96 strengthened it in stages, with a further set of obligations covering product inscriptions, public signs and commercial advertising taking effect on June 1, 2025. Éducaloi, the Quebec legal information organization, explains that a business with an address in Quebec must have a French version of its website, can offer other language versions as long as French is available, and must make catalogues, brochures, order forms and similar commercial documents available in French whether they are printed or online. For ecommerce, the French version must include all of the purchase information. Commercial advertising must generally be in French, and when another language appears alongside it, French must be markedly predominant.
For marketing, the implications are practical:
- A French site of comparable quality, not a stripped down page or a raw machine translation bolted onto an English site.
- French campaigns built from French keyword research, because people in Quebec search with their own vocabulary, not translated English phrases.
- Forms, confirmation emails, automations and receipts in French for French-speaking customers, so the experience does not switch languages halfway through a purchase.
If you are based outside Quebec but sell there, get advice on which obligations apply to you. Either way, a proper French experience is simply good business in a large market.
Bilingual marketing beyond Quebec
Canada has two official languages, and francophone customers live in every province. Businesses that sell nationally, and suppliers working with federal institutions, often need bilingual marketing even when Quebec is not their main market.
Good bilingual marketing is more than translation. We set up each language on its own URLs with the right signals so search engines show the correct version to each searcher, run separate ad campaigns per language with their own budgets and reporting, and store a language preference in your CRM so follow-up arrives in the language the customer chose. We also plan content separately: the questions French-speaking customers ask, and the words they use, are not always the same as their English-speaking neighbors'.
Serving customers across provinces and time zones
A national business is really several regional businesses sharing a brand. Customers in Halifax are already finishing lunch when Vancouver is starting the day, and buying habits, seasons and competitors shift from one region to the next.
We plan for that in a few ways:
- Ad scheduling by local time, so campaigns run when each region is awake and your team can answer the phone.
- Regional landing pages that speak to local conditions, with genuinely different content rather than one page cloned with the province swapped.
- Accurate pricing and checkout that handle sales taxes and shipping costs that vary by province, presented clearly so the price a customer sees is a price they can actually pay.
- Lead routing in your CRM, so an inquiry from Saskatoon reaches the right salesperson or location automatically.
- Reporting by region, so you can see which provinces are profitable and move budget accordingly.
Our own team works in Pacific time, on the west coast. Early morning calls work for clients in the east, the rest of our day overlaps with clients in the west, and most day-to-day progress happens asynchronously through shared boards and written updates.
Pricing in Canadian dollars
We quote and invoice in Canadian dollars, so there are no exchange rate surprises or foreign transaction fees on your marketing bill. Websites are usually priced as one-time projects, while SEO, ads, automation and content run on monthly retainers, and ad spend is paid directly to Google, Meta or other platforms from accounts you own.
When we set up new ad accounts for Canadian businesses, we set the account currency to Canadian dollars and the time zone to match your main market. Both are easy to get wrong at the start and painful to fix later, because some platforms do not let you change them after the account is created. You get a written scope with clear numbers before anything starts.
Where we work across Canada
We work with businesses across Canada, and we have written detailed guides for some of the cities where we do the most work. Each one covers the local economy, how customers there search and what we would focus on first. Browse the full list on our locations page, or start with one of these:
- Digital marketing in Edmonton
- Web design in Calgary
- Web design in Toronto
- Web design in Vancouver, our home market
- Web design in Montreal
- Web design in Ottawa
We are based in Delta, BC, and we do not have offices in other cities or pretend to. What we offer instead is a single Canadian team, clear reporting and a working knowledge of the rules and customer habits that national marketing depends on.
Digital Marketing Agency in Canada: your questions.
Can a Canadian marketing agency work with me remotely?
Yes. Velle Digital is based in Delta, BC, and works with businesses from coast to coast through video calls, shared project boards, live dashboards and weekly written updates. Most of our clients outside the Lower Mainland never need an in-person meeting to get strong results.
Does CASL apply to my email and text marketing?
If you send commercial electronic messages to people in Canada, generally yes. You need consent, clear identification of who is sending, valid contact information and an unsubscribe option honored within 10 business days. We build these into every campaign and form we create, but check with a lawyer for specific situations.
Do I need a French website to sell in Quebec?
If your business has an address in Quebec, the Charter of the French Language generally requires a French version of your website, and other languages are allowed alongside it. If you sell into Quebec from elsewhere, get legal advice on what applies, and plan for a proper French experience either way.
What privacy law applies to my marketing data?
It depends on where you operate. PIPEDA covers private sector organizations in most provinces, while Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have their own substantially similar laws. PIPEDA still applies to data that crosses provincial or national borders, which includes many marketing tools.
How much does a digital marketing agency in Canada cost?
It varies with scope. Website builds are usually one-time projects, ongoing marketing runs on monthly retainers, and ad spend is separate. We quote in Canadian dollars after a strategy call so you know the full cost before work begins.
Can you run campaigns in English and French?
Yes. We set up separate campaigns, landing pages and follow-up sequences for each language, based on keyword research in that language rather than direct translation, and report on each one so you can see how both audiences perform.
