How beauty clients find you and decide

Beauty is visual and personal. Clients pick a stylist, esthetician, lash artist or brand based on work they can see and a sense of trust they feel before they ever book.

The journey usually goes:

  1. Discovery: an Instagram post, a TikTok, a friend's new color, or a search like balayage near me, lash extensions, brow lamination or hydrating facial plus a neighborhood.
  2. Vetting: scrolling your portfolio, reading Google reviews, checking price ranges and location.
  3. Booking: ideally a few taps at 11 p.m., without a phone call.
  4. The visit and the rebook: the experience decides whether they come back on schedule or drift to someone else.

Salons and spas live on that last step. Winning a new client takes real effort, while a client who books her next appointment before she leaves becomes the foundation of a steady book. Beauty brands that sell products online run the same loop, with reorders in place of rebookings.

Good marketing for this industry supports every step, but it pays the most attention to the rebook.

Online booking that removes every excuse

If clients have to call during business hours, many simply will not. Salon and spa booking platforms let people see real availability, pick a provider and confirm instantly, any time of day.

What we set up around your booking tool:

  • Book buttons everywhere: your website, your Google Business Profile, your Instagram bio and your TikTok profile, all pointing to the same live calendar.
  • A service menu clients understand: clear names, durations, starting prices and what is included, with consultations required for color corrections, extensions and other complex work.
  • Deposit and cancellation policies stated plainly before checkout, so no-show protection never feels like a surprise.
  • A fast mobile website where each core service has its own page with photos of your actual work. Our website development team builds sites around that structure.

Service pages also help local search, because people search by treatment far more often than by salon name. A page for balayage, one for lash fills and one for facials gives Google something specific to match.

Your Google Business Profile deserves the same care. List each service with a short description, choose categories that match what you actually do, post fresh photos of recent work every week or two, and keep holiday hours accurate. For many salons, the profile is where a new client first compares you with the shop down the street.

Instagram and TikTok as your living portfolio

For salons and beauty brands, social media is not a side channel. It is your portfolio, your proof and often your first impression.

Content that tends to work:

  • Transformations, filmed with client consent in good, consistent light: hair, lashes, brows, nails, makeup.
  • Process clips: sectioning, toning, mapping brows, the slow reveal at the end.
  • The people: who your stylists and artists are, what they love doing, and how they work.
  • Education: aftercare tips, how often to book, how to choose a style for your hair type.
  • Trending audio, used with judgment rather than on every post.

Tag your location, use service and neighborhood words in captions, and post on a rhythm your team can keep through busy season. Keep editing honest: heavy filters on a hair color post set expectations you cannot meet in the chair.

Our social media service handles planning, editing and posting so your team can stay focused on clients.

Rebooking and retention automation

The salons with the steadiest books rarely leave rebooking to memory. They build simple automations around the service cycle.

  • A rebook prompt at checkout, so the next appointment is made before the client walks out.
  • Due-date reminders based on the service: root touch-ups, lash fills, gel manicures and facials each run on their own natural cycle.
  • Win-back messages for clients who have not booked in a while, with a friendly note rather than a deep discount.
  • Birthday and anniversary notes that feel personal.
  • Review requests sent shortly after a visit, while the client still loves the result. Our guide on how to get more Google reviews has wording you can borrow.

We connect your booking platform to a CRM and our automation for booked services so these messages run on their own. Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation applies to promotional texts and emails, so we build consent into your forms and include sender details and an unsubscribe in every message.

Selling products online and from the chair

Retail strengthens margins and loyalty. A client who goes home with the shampoo, serum or extensions her stylist recommended is a client who trusts you, and who thinks of you between visits.

Ways we help grow product sales:

  • Follow-up links after an appointment to the products used in the service.
  • An online shop for clients who want to reorder without coming in.
  • Bundles and gift sets timed for the holidays and Mother's Day.
  • Email flows for reorders, new arrivals and restocks.

For beauty brands, the store is the business. We built a fully custom Shopify store for Beautico, a premium hair extensions brand: custom theme development, optimized product pages, a streamlined checkout and a visual design system matched to the brand's editorial look. If you are planning a store of your own, see our e-commerce service.

Product photography matters as much as price. Show texture, shade range and the product in use on real hair and skin, and write descriptions that answer the questions clients would ask their stylist: who it suits, how to use it and how long it lasts.

Ads, gift cards and the beauty calendar

Beauty demand follows the calendar: wedding season, prom and graduation, back to school, holiday parties, New Year's Eve, and gift card spikes before the holidays and Mother's Day. Plan promotions and content around those moments, and staff for them.

  • Meta ads built from your best portfolio content reach people near your location who match your ideal client, and retarget people who visited your booking page without finishing.
  • Google Ads fits high-intent searches for specific services, such as bridal hair or lash extensions, where one booking can lead to a long-term client.
  • Gift card campaigns bring in new clients through people who already love you.

Meta's advertising standards include specific rules for health and appearance content, including cosmetic procedures, and those rules change. We check the current policy for your services before any campaign launches.

Claims, med aesthetics and the rules that apply

Beauty marketing in Canada sits close to health regulation, especially for spas and med-aesthetics adjacent businesses. This is general guidance, not legal advice.

  • Cosmetic versus therapeutic claims. Under guidelines developed by Ad Standards with Health Canada, what separates a cosmetic claim from a therapeutic one is whether it represents a benefit to health. Talking about how a product or service looks and feels is cosmetic territory. Claiming to treat a condition is therapeutic, and that requires Health Canada authorization for the product. See the Ad Standards guidelines.
  • Prescription injectables. Section C.01.044 of the Food and Drug Regulations limits advertising of prescription drugs to the general public to the brand name, proper name, common name, price and quantity. Clinics offering injectables need copy that respects that limit, and practitioners may also answer to their regulatory college's advertising rules.
  • Before and after content. Use real, unretouched results with written client consent, and avoid implying that every client will see the same outcome.

We write copy that sells the experience and the craft without making promises the rules do not allow. Want a review of your booking flow, content and retention? Schedule a call with our team.

/ 08 | FAQ

Salon and beauty marketing: your questions.

Which booking platform should our salon use?

The best one is usually the one your team will actually use well. Most popular salon and spa platforms handle online booking, deposits and reminders. We focus on connecting yours to your website, Google profile, social profiles and CRM so every channel leads to the same calendar.

Do we need a website if Instagram brings us clients?

Instagram is a great discovery tool, but you do not control it, and it does not rank well for searches like lash extensions near me. A fast website with a page for each service supports local search, makes booking easy and gives you a home that no algorithm change can take away.

How do we cut down on no-shows?

Combine a clear deposit or cancellation policy, automatic reminders by text and email, and an easy way to reschedule. Clients who can move an appointment in two taps are far less likely to simply not show up.

Can you market a med spa or injectables clinic?

Yes, with care. We focus on your team, your environment, your consultation process and the experience, and we keep claims within Health Canada rules, including the limits on advertising prescription drugs to the public. Your practitioners should also confirm their college's advertising requirements.

Should our salon sell products online?

If you already sell retail in the salon, an online shop is often a natural next step. It lets clients reorder between visits and gives you another reason to stay in touch. We can start simple and scale up as demand grows.

Do you work with independent stylists and booth renters?

Yes. Independent professionals need the same basics on a smaller scale: a clean booking link, a strong portfolio on social, a Google profile and simple rebooking reminders. We size the plan to your book and your budget.

Do you work with salons and beauty brands outside our city?

Yes. Velle is a Canadian agency, our clients are spread across the country, and we build bilingual English and French sites, booking pages and campaigns for salons, spas and brands that serve both markets.
